About Summit Research Network

What We Do

We work in cooperation with pharmaceutical companies to study medication-based treatments for various physical and emotional conditions. Some of these studies are undertaken to enhance our understanding of currently available medications (for example, determining the best dose). Some studies look at questions of expanded usage (for example, determining whether an established medical treatment for depression is also effective in treating anxiety). Other studies evaluate medications that are currently being developed and are not yet available to the general public.

Many of our studies involve comparisons between a research medication, a commonly prescribed medication, and a placebo (inactive substance). Placebo groups are included in some of our studies because a surprising number of people improve when treated with placebos, and the status of patients in the placebo group gives us a comparison base for evaluating the effectiveness of active medications. All medications now on the market have gone through the same process.

Our goal is to expand what is known about medical treatment while offering top-quality patient care. We provide thorough assessments of carefully selected individuals who are likely to benefit from our programs. All of our studies include a free follow-up treatment program upon study completion. All patients are referred for ongoing care following the termination of their participation in a study and our follow-up treatment program.
